066 – Induction Coil Sounds

As I mentioned a couple days ago, I recently got an induction coil pick-up to record the sounds of electronics. I thought tonight I would share how that was going so far. I have been able to pick up the sounds of several things – my wireless router, my iPhone, a clock, and my laptop. Here are two of the sounds:

I think both of these sounds are interesting and I am curious to see what happens if I use the coil pick-up around my neighborhood. I will take a walk sometime and experiment. The wireless router had a steady, rhythmic sound, which I think could come in handy for something. The iPhone had some quirky, unpredictable sounds coming off of it. This is exciting because it’s unexplored territory for me. I’ve been reading up on radio frequencies and technology and I think this is a related exploration I may undertake soon, especially shortwave radio. Just today, I was reading about a mysterious radio frequency transmitted out of Russia somewhere that nobody understands. Here is a link to the article if you are interested:
