I spent some time tonight using my shortwave radio in an attempt to find new material to work with. This is tricky because shortwave radio can be hit or miss. I picked up these two sounds and I’ve made them available for download at the bottom of this post if anybody wants to use them. The first one is a snippet of an unknown song and it has a broken, lo-fi quality. The second one is mainly white noise with a low tone. These two samples could be stretched, pitched, EQ’d, and turned into something else. I was inspired to pull things out of the air like this since I’ve been listening to William Basinski and Stephan Mathieu lately.
